German atelier G-Power has presented chip tuning for a charged-up diesel version of a BMW M550d station wagon. Company representatives named the updated vehicle “the fastest diesel BMW” and the “world record” holder.

The atelier didn’t specify, what they meant by the “world record.” It is unknown which BMW diesel estate cars (or similar cars of other manufacturers) has G-Power been comparing their development.

Due to the D-Tronik 5 V1 device, the threshold for the maximum velocity electronic limiter’s actuation got shifted from 250 kph to 300 kph. The testers managed to speed the car up to 271.4 kph.

Acceleration from head start to 100 kph took 4.5 seconds – 0.2 seconds faster, than the serial version. The standard 380-hp six-cylinder 3.0 engine added 55 hp to the overall capacity. Torque got increased from 740 Nm to 850 Nm.

D-Tronik 5 V1 costs 2,758 euros in the G-Power’s online store.

The most expensive of G-Power’s chips for the 5-Series is Bi-Tronik 5 V4 for the M5 model. It costs 13,804 euros. The device increases the 4.4-liter 8-cilynder engine’s capacity from 560 hp to 740 hp, and the torque – from 680 Nm to 975 Nm.
