BMW X5 has become the most popular car among the British hijackers for the sixth year in a row. This was concluded by specialists of Tracker, a company that releases stolen car search devices.

Tracker’s most stolen cars rating features models of premium manufacturers, fitted with expensive anti-theft equipment.

Seven out of ten stolen cars in 2014 were the representatives of German car manufacturers, while the British were only three of them.

In 2014, due to the Tracker’s devices, UK police were able to return vehicles for the aggregate cost of 15.3 mil euros. The average cost of a stolen car made 35,700,000 euros.

Here’s the list of the Top 10 stolen cars in the United Kingdom in 2014:

- BMW X5
- Mercedes-Benz C-Class
- Range Rover Sport
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class
- Land Rover Disovery
- BMW M3
- Range Rover
- Audi RS4
- Mercedes-Benz ML-Class
- Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG

Last year, the list of the most stolen cars in the UK was topped by BMW X5, BMW M3, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Tracker’s representative noted that they have registered an increase in car stealing without the use of keys and other mechanical devices during the past few years. The reason for this is the manufacturers’ implementation of keyless systems for cabin access and engine start. Hijackers are taking advantage of this, buying special devices and soft through the Internet that can pass through such security systems.
