Porsche Makes the Most Powerful Boxster in History
On the New York motor show, Porshce has presented the Boxster Spyder roadster – the most powerful Boxster in history. The novelty in 45 hp more powerful, than the charged-up Boxter GTS modification fitted with a 3.4-liter V6.
The new roadster sports a 3.8-l aspirated V6, outputting 375 hp under the hood. The engine is exclusively combined with a six-step mechanical gearbox.
The car accelerates from head start to 100 kph in 4.5 seconds. This is 0.5 seconds faster, than the Boxster GTS with the mechanics. Maximum velocity is 290 kph, while that of Boxter GTS is just 281 kph.
The car received a light body and got rid of multimedia and climate systems, which helped reduce its weight comparing to the Boxster GTS by 105 kilos – down to 1,420 kg. Hereby, if a client will want to order a car with AC and stereo system, these options will be provided for free.
Besides, the car is fitted with 911 Carrera brakes and “sports” suspension that is 20 mm lower compared to the regular Boxster.
The main difference in the exterior is two pimples on the rear lid covering the soft roof folding mechanism. They are made in the style of Porsche 718 racing style that has been released between 1957 and 1962. The roof itself opens partially with the help of electrics and partially manually.
Boxster Spyder will go on sale in Europe this Summer and will cost from 79,945 euros. In the USA, the roadster will go on sale in October with prices starting at $82,000.
