Robert De Niro to Star in an Enzo Ferrari Biopic
Robert De Niro will star in a biopic about Enzo Ferrari, founder of the Ferrari company.
“It is an honor to tell the life of an extraordinary man who revolutionized the world of motor sport. The film will go into production soon, mostly in Italy, and has absolute priority over all my other projects,” said the 71 years old Academy Award winning film legend.
The film that will be shot by Triworld Cinema motion-picture company and De Niro’s own company Tribeca Enterprises and will deal with an extensive time period from 1945 to the late 1980’s. Clint Eastwood may become the film’s director – he interested in participating in the project and has expressed the desire to head the footage, if he likes the script.
The plot will be based on Enzo’s autobiographic book “Ferrari 80,” written by him in 1981. Gianni Bozzacchi, the film’s producer, has stated that the motion picture will be shot in light and dark tones, telling about both successful stages in Ferrari’s history and dramatic moments too, such as the death of son Dino, who deceased at age 24 due to a severe disease.
According to the producer, the film about art and courage will touch viewers of all ages and from all kinds of cultures. The film is set to premiere in 2016.
